New York-based singer/songwriter Jay Brannan announces his departure from long-time label distribution partner Nettwerk, and will be self-releasing his third full-length album entitled Always, Then, & Now, on July 15, 2014. The album consists of 12 original songs and is produced by Brannan himself and collaborator Drew Brody, a combination which generated Brannan's 2009 release In Living Cover, topping the iTunes Singer/Songwriter chart and reaching No. 10 onBillboard's Heatseekers. The new album includes the song "My Love, My Love" from the motion picture Cloudburst, starring Olympia Dukakis, which earned Brannan a Canadian Genie Award nomination for best original song.

Jay released his critically lauded debut album goddamned in 2008, but first gained attention with his role in John Cameron Mitchell's 2006 indie film Shortbus, where he performed his original song "Soda Shop." This catchy acoustic tune was featured on the homepage of YouTube and became the highest selling song on the film's soundtrack album (released by Bright Eyes' Team Love Records).

From there, Jay released a string of albums, all of which topped the iTunes Singer/Songwriter & Billboard Heatseekers charts: goddamned, produced by Will Golden (Meiko, Michelle Branch); In Living Cover, a collection of 2 originals & 7 covers, recorded from a bedroom in his friend Drew Brody's Brooklyn apartment; and in 2012, Brannan released Rob Me Blind, a full album of original songs produced by the legendary David Kahne (Regina Spektor, Paul McCartney,Lana Del Rey, The Bangles).

Jay's tenor voice combined with painfully honest lyrics surrounding taboo subjects has caught the attention of critics at such influential outlets as Rolling Stone, The Washington Post, and The New York Times, which proclaimed that Jay "makes even the saddest lyrics easy on the ear." His rabid online following combined with his penchant for connecting with audiences has allowed him to tour multiple times around the globe, including the USA, Canada, the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Sweden, Norway, Greece, Brazil, South Africa, Israel, and Australia. All this traveling inspired his 2013 release Around the World in 80 Jays, an acoustic collection of 9 multi-lingual cover songs spanning 6 different languages.
