How does indie horror rocker Characula (www.characula.com) celebrate Halloween - her favorite night of the year?
It will be released Thursday, October 24 on Characula's dedicated YouTubechannel (www.youtube.com/characula), her website and other outlets.
Characula has already received substantial national radio airplay for "Mummy Dance" and recently picked up her second overall Hollywood Music In Media Award (HMMA) for the song in the Alternative category. Her other nomination is for "Ready For Love" in the Contemporary/AAA category.
"Characula is an elegant, sophisticated woman who eats spiders and carries on epic romances with mummies and other fiendish creatures of the night," says the multi-talented singer/songwriter. "The video is an intimate, candid look at the life of Characula in all her glorious eccentricity." There are hovering pyramids, beautiful dancers and exotic scenery to add to the video's sexy, sci-fi vibe.
The lyrics of "Mummy Dance" include vibrant, authentic references to ancient Egypt and pay homage to paranormal radio legend, Art Bell: Kingdom of Nye, Valley of Kings, Osiris, Cleopatra, King Tut, Nephren-Ka, ba-ka, Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, pharaoh and The Nile.
The horror rock goddess currently has two songs "Dead Light District Dolls" and "Mummy Dance" gaining traction on the Mediabase Activator chart.
Characula emerged from the shadows Saturday, October 19 to perform at halftime of a roller derby game of the L.A. Derby Dolls, Southern California's premiere all-female, banked track roller derby league. She is currently working on her debut album with famed producer, Dito Godwin.
