This new musical is currently being shopped to theaters around New York City for workshop and production opportunities. A short promotional video directed by Christopher Sutherland documents the rehearsal and recording process. This intimate show weaves elements of American folk music, musical theater, and classical music into a compelling fabric. It is scored for piano, violin, viola, and cello.
Once 'Round the Circle tells the story of the three Mackenzie sisters who are stuck in their house waiting for a winter storm to pass. After losing their mother years earlier, bossy eldest sister Emily (Cheryl Ann McCullagh) tries to mind the home while keeping the peace. Twelve-year-old Charlotte (Brigid Harrington) insists on being the center of attention and drives her sisters to distraction. When the sun comes out, she convinces Emily and dour younger sister Dolly (Shannon Harrington) to go skating on the pond just behind their house. The freedom of playing on the ice brings about a change that will forever transform their relationship.
Shanan Estreicher's work has been featured on TV, off-off Broadway, and in the documentary Rise Up and Sing (Official Selection of The Louisville International Festival of Film). He is a music teacher in the New York City public schools and a founding board member of the Chamber Orchestra of New York.
