While etiquette dictates that it must be quiet on the golf course, those rules do not apply to the recording studio, where world-renowned composer and conductor Brian Tyler has completed work on a groundbreaking musical theme for the 115th U.S. Open Championship on FOX broadcast network and Fox Sports 1.

Tyler, who has scored more than 70 major motion pictures and recently received "Film Composer of the Year" honors at the 2014 Cue Awards, delivers a four-movement theme that captures the full range of competitive emotions and serves as the official soundtrack for
FOX Sports' inaugural presentation of the U.S. Open, beginning Thursday, June 18 at
Chambers Bay in University Place, Wash.
"Brian is one of Hollywood's hottest composers and we were honored that he chose the 'U.S. Open on FOX' theme as his next big project," said
George Greenberg,
FOX Sports' Executive Vice President of
Content Integration and Presentation. "His success speaks for itself and with all of the emotion and intensity of this piece, he has composed a theme for the ages."
The full score was recorded with a 90-piece orchestra and spans 6:30, but is edited down into shorter pieces used throughout the broadcasts, setting the stage for the excitement and intensity of the action, while also reflecting the championship's moments of great rejoice and frustrating disappointment.
"Sports and music have always had an important connection for me. I love the way iconic sports themes evoke the spirit of sporting events and can provide dramatic impact and nostalgic memory," Tyler said. "I wanted the music I composed for the 'U.S. Open on FOX' theme to capture the epic struggle, the challenge, the history, the heartbreak, and the elation of competitive golf. Great sporting events like the U.S. Open are powerful stories that are unwritten until the last shot goes in and the trophy is hoisted. With this music I have endeavored to convey that essence and emotion."
A 2010 inductee into the music branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Tyler embarked on the U.S. Open project for
Fox Sports immediately after completing the scores for early 2015 box-office blockbusters "Furious 7" and "Avengers: Age of Ultron." Other composition credits on his impressive résumé include the original scores for the feature films "Iron Man 3," "Thor: The Dark World," "Now You See Me," "The Expendables" and "Eagle Eye," in addition to the wildly-popular video games, "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3" and "Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag." A three-time Emmy nominee, Tyler also scores the television series "Scorpion," "Hawaii Five-O" and "Sleepy Hollow."
In the final editing stages for use in broadcast, the theme debuts during THE U.S. OPEN PREVIEW SHOW, Wednesday, June 17 at 12:00 PM ET on
Fox Sports 1.
