TACKLING ROMEO will receive a NYC screening on Friday, June 14th, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Dolby 88 Theater, 1350 Avenue of the Americas, Ground Floor, New York (Cross Street West 55th). Please RSVP to info@farawayfilmsentertianment.com. Limited seating.

Dealing with a high school boy struggling to find the courage to be himself, TACKLING ROMEO's umbrella comedy structure aims to make its audiences laugh while its underlying emotional core experienced through the ballet will sneak up and make audiences care. It's a feel good story that will stay with you long after the projector dims and the curtain falls.

Directed by Lynda Heys, the original film stars Russell Page (BANGARRA DANCE THEATER) and Rebecca Yates (THE AUSTRALIAN BALLET) and co-stars include Martin Henderson (BRIDE AND PREJUDICE), Radha Mitchell (FINDING NEVERLAND, MELINDA AND MELINDA), Jason Clarke (ZERO DARK THIRTY, THE GREAT GATSBY) and Paul Mercurio (STRICTLY BALLROOM).

The current creative team attracted to the US remake already consists of Academy, Tony, and Olivier Award winners and nominees. Attached are: Director/Co-writer - Lynda Heys, Producer - Steve Turnbull, Co-Producer - Josef Brown (Australian Ballet & West End's Dirty Dancing), Executive Producer - Barbara Portman, Choreographer (Stage) & Associate Producer - Lisa Stevens, Choreographer (Film) - Graeme Murphy, Director of Photography - Peter James (MEET THE PARENTS), Editor - Mark Warner (DRIVING MISS DAISY), Sound Design (Stage) Gareth Owen (SISTER ACT, END OF THE RAINBOW & LET IT BE ME)

Digitally restored from its original 35 mm print with the extraordinary support from the team at Deluxe Digital Pictures, Australia, TACKLING ROMEO will play on the big screen for the first time in over a decade, with one-off private screenings in NYC and LA.

In an attempt to challenge the current business model, where a decade or more can elapse between movie premiere and opening night, the stage musical will be developed concurrently with the film's production to capitalize on TACKLING ROMEO'S theatrical run. This Director's Cut of the original Australian film serves as the source material for the new U.S. feature remake and the succeeding stage musical.
