Today, Secret Cinema announces its live cinema experience of Wes Anderson's critically acclaimed The Grand Budapest Hotel - running from 27 February until 30 March in a secret Central London location, opening over one week before its official release. The press night will be on Wednesday 26 February.
Since Secret Cinema launched in 2007, it has changed the way audiences experience cinema, creating theatrical worlds where audience members become part of the story.
The audience will be invited to join the ranks of The Grand Budapest Hotel's distinguished guests, in this parallel real-world setting curated by Secret Cinema, transporting the audience into a celebration of 1932 European glamour and romance.
Audience members will all receive correspondence confirming their stay at The Grand Budapest Hotel with strict dress code instructions. They will also be asked to learn about the history of the hotel and the fictional state of Zubrowka. On their hotel arrival date, guests will arrive at a secret location, before being swept into the imagined world of The Grand Budapest Hotel, a place of mystery, romance, secrets and intrigue.
The hotel will have dining rooms, restaurants, a secret theatre, a spa and many other unexpected delights. Live music, secret writers, special lectures and performances will unravel throughout the night before the film begins, in its unique setting.
Pushing the boundaries of conventional cinema experiences, Secret Cinema creates highly detailed and imagined theatrical worlds. Under the Artistic Directorship of Fabien Riggall, a cast of twenty-five actors led by Performance Director Garett Moore will recreate the magic of The Grand Budapest Hotel. Charlotte Bevan (National Theatre) has been announced as Casting Director and Patrick Woodroffe (Paralympic Closing Ceremony, Rolling Stones) heads the show's Lighting Design.
Fabien Riggall, Founder and Artistic Director of Secret Cinema said: "Secret Cinema is excited to be staging Wes Anderson's beautiful film, transforming a central London location into the world of The Grand Budapest Hotel. We will transport the audience into another world in a night of culture, adventure, romance and mystery."
Secret Cinema and its satellite brands, which have re-defined cinematic experiences since 2005, have seen over 100,000 audience members experience its productions in 2013 alone. The Grand Budapest Hotel is on general release from 7th March, distributed by Twentieth Century Fox.
