The joy of the holiday season is coming to the big screen with a classic Christmas double feature, "TCM Presents: 'A Christmas Carol' and 'Christmas in Connecticut,'" brought to you by Fathom Events, Turner Classic Movies and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. See the beloved 1938 version of the holiday classic, "A Christmas Carol," and the 1945 romantic comedy, "Christmas in Connecticut," on Sunday, December 7 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. local time in select cinemas nationwide. In addition, fans of classic films will have the opportunity to view a special introduction from TCM host Ben Mankiewicz before THE DOUBLE feature begins. Both films will be shown in the same aspect ratio (1.37) as when they were originally released in cinemas.

Tickets for "TCM Presents: 'A Christmas Carol' and 'Christmas in Connecticut'" are available at participating theater box offices and online at www.FathomEvents.com. The event will be presented in more than 630 select movie theaters around the country through Fathom's Digital Broadcast Network. For a complete list of theater locations and prices, visit the Fathom Events website (theaters and participants are subject to change).

Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" has been the subject of more than 40 feature films, TV movies and short films but perhaps none was as revered as the 1938 version, with Reginald Owen as Ebenezer Scrooge. As always, it tells the story of how Scrooge, a bitter and miserly old man, learns the true meaning of Christmas after being visited by the ghosts of Christmas past, Christmas present and Christmas that has yet to be. He wakes up Christmas MORNING a changed man. Also noteworthy is the only joint appearance of The Lockhart acting family (Gene, Kathleen and June, who makes her motion picture debut at age 12).

"Christmas in Connecticut" is about a writer in New York (played by Barbara Stanwyck) who publishes a series of well-regarded articles about her non-existent country Connecticut farm. When faced with hosting a Christmas party Elizabeth Lane attempts to create the life her fictional articles portray.

"What better way to get in the Yuletide spirit than to spend a heart-warming evening in a theatre with these two terrific family films - probably the best version of the classic Dickens tale along with the delightful holiday-themed comedy starring Barbara Stanwyck," noted Jeff Baker, WBHE's Executive Vice President and General Manager of Theatrical Catalog. "Both, of course, will debut on Blu-ray November 11 if families want a similar experience at home."

"These films are heart-warming family favorites and this double bill is a great holiday outing for new and old fans alike," Fathom Events Executive Vice President Shelly Maxwell said. "Fathom Events is pleased to be able to present these holidays favorites as they have always been meant to be seen: on the big screen."

(Both films and additional content not rated.)
