The 7th annual Family of Woman Film Festival in Sun Valley will take place March 7-9, 2014, at the Sun Valley Opera House. The festival supports the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), which works in over 150 countries to achieve a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person's potential is fulfilled.

For 2014, the Family of Woman Film Festival will bring a selection of highly acclaimed international documentary and dramatic films with their filmmakers from Brazil, Mali, Afghanistan, Jordan, India and the U.S. focusing on the importance of education to the advancement of women and girls.

In the past, the Family of Woman Film Festival has presented films on several important international issues including Women and War, Women and the Arab Spring and Women and the Environment. This year's event looks to build on the successes of the last six years.

"This year, we anticipate having more filmmakers in attendance than ever before," said Family of Woman Film Festival Co-Chair Peggy Elliott Goldwyn. "And in addition to promoting the work of UNFPA, several of our filmmakers are involved in complementary causes, which we plan to highlight."

The Family of Women Film Festival is dedicated to presenting quality films to Sun Valley audiences, and the festival organizers are also mindful of giving back to the local community. The festival donates the entire film slate each year to the Community Library in Ketchum, and also presents free events to the public as well as educational opportunities with non-profits and schools in the Wood River Valley.

"We live in a wonderful place, but it's easy to become myopic about the world," said Stephanie Freid-Perenchio, co-chair of the Family of Women Film Festival. "This festival helps us understand the issues facing women and children around the world. It also connects us to international organizations like the UNFPA and others doing incredible work to benefit women and children. Sun Valley is full of accomplished and passionate women-this festival is a way of connecting them with other inspiring women around the world."
