Hi! I'm Kristin Reynolds and I am looking forward to another exciting season with The Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra.

I currently enjoy playing Second Oboe/English Horn with the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra. When I am not performing with the A2SO, I perform with the Toledo Symphony, and occasionally with the Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings, Michigan Opera Theater, and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. I am also the Oboe Professor at Eastern Michigan University.

Join me for the Beethoven Festival with Garrick Ohlsson on September 19th at Hill Auditorium.

Inside the mind of Kristin Reynolds

What do you like about playing Beethoven?
I enjoy bringing the emotion of Beethoven's music to the listener. His music comprises so much strength and power juxtaposed with beautiful, soulful, melodic lines - it's really special music that touches everyone in some way.

What are the challenges of playing Beethoven for an oboist?
As always, finding the right reed to play! The reed must be able to play loudly and with a full tone, yet at the same time softly and delicately as Beethoven's music dictates. As a second oboist, there is also the added challenge of matching and balancing with the principal oboist, which is different with each principal oboist. The reed is a huge part of doing my job well.

Watch me perform at Beethoven Festival with Garrick Ohlsson 9/19 at Hill Auditorium!
