Wednesday, March 19th at 6pm - "'History's Witches' takes the notion that the past is boring and colorless and infuses it with character, wit and magic. Lisa Graves' bright and charming historical vignettes are a delightful way to experience the stories of oft forgotten women. It's storytelling at its most creative." -Beckett Graham & Susan Vollenweider, The History Chicks

The House of the Seven Gables is excited to announce another great cast of authors and experts for this year's speaker series at Salem's premiere historic site. The House of Seven Gables offers a year-long variety of lectures where you will discover 330 years of Salem History through their museum and collection of historic buildings.

Join local author and illustrator Lisa Graves for the first of the Seven Lectures series for an evening of intimate discussion on some of history's most colorful women. Through research for her blog, History Witch featuring fun facts and illustrations on quirky, sometimes lesser known people in history, Lisa has compiled quite the collection of historic tales. Learn about Bessie Coleman, the first African American female pilot, Nellie Bly a groundbreaking investigative journalist, Eleanor of Aquitane, Anne Boleyn, Bridget Bishop, Amelia Earhart and so many more fascinating women. Lisa will be discussing some of these women and their amazing, courageous and often times humorous adventures and give you a glimpse into her process of researching and writing her books: History's Witches which is available now and Trail Blazers which will be released Spring 2014.

Lisa Graves grew up in Norfolk, MA, went to Bishop Feehan High School in Attleboro, MA and then on to San Diego Advertising Arts School. She has been a professional illustrator for over 17 years developing books, gift products, and creating installation art for corporate clients.
