Nicole Porlier Releases Memoir, BUMPY ROADS HAVE SOFT SHOULDERS

Nicole Porlier has Neurofibromatosis (otherwise known as NF). NF is a genetic disorder where tumors grow on the skin and wrap themselves around various nerves of the body. NF affects one in three thousand babies. In her book, Bumpy Roads Have Soft Shoulders: Living with NF, she shares her story living with this condition. She shares the struggles and challenges she's been faced with throughout her childhood and young adult life as a result of NF. She hopes to make readers look at life in a different way and recognize that no matter what the circumstances, this should not stop anyone from living life to the fullest.

The name also comes from a Goldie Hawn quote ("There are three words I like to repeat to myself, glass half full, just to remind myself to be grateful for everything I have.") and she also uses it when she sometimes needs to find her way back to seeing things in a positive light. About the Author

Nicole Porlier (née Bolliger), was born in Toronto on October 2, 1966. Her mother, Arlette Bolliger (née Deneffe) was born in Brussels, Belgium, and father, Heinz Bolliger, was born in Gais, Appenzell, Switzerland. She has two older sisters, Nadine and Manon, who live with their spouses in Vancouver, British Columbia. She also has two nieces, Janael and Leana, as well as a nephew, Sagan. She graduated high school at North Toronto Collegiate Institute in 1985. Although she didn't have any formal diplomas or certificates, she has taken many continuing education courses over the years and has traveled extensively including working in Geneva, Switzerland and taking an intensive Spanish course in Cuernavaca, Mexico. In her thirties, she found a job at a company called Ingram Micro, located in Mississauga, Ontario. In 2005, she lost her job at Ingram Micro due to restructuring and outsourcing. That same year she and her husband Denis decided to open their own independent business called The Glass Half Full a wine making store located in Oakville Ontario.

They also sell Keurig machines, K-Cups and Nespresso machines, recently adding a product called MB Bottle Brew (Mister Beer). They have been in business for eight years and are working hard to make their business thrive. Today the author feels stronger than ever. She feels like she can overcome anything she is faced with. She lives with Denis and their cat and dog Guinness and Marshall in Port Credit, Ontario.
