LOS ANGELES, CA - Well respected behavioral health expert, addiction treatment pioneer, and television personality, Dr. Robin Barnett, EdD, LCSW, proudly announced today that her widely anticipated first book, Addict in the House: A No-Nonsense Family Guide Through Addiction and Recovery, will be hitting bookstore shelves and leading online destinations nationwide on August 1, 2016. Published by one of the oldest and most well-regarded clinical and science-based publishing houses, New Harbinger Publications, Dr. Barnett's Addict in the House offers a no-nonsense, step-by-step guide to dealing with a loved one's addiction from accepting the reality of the disease to surviving repeated cycles of recovery and relapse.

Drawing on her own personal experience with her brother's addiction and decades of treating extreme addiction on the frontlines, Dr. Barnett's Addict in the House offers a pragmatic, step-by-step guide to dealing with a loved one's addiction, from accepting the reality of the disease and surviving what may be repeated cycles of recovery and relapse, to encouraging your addicted loved one to get help without forcing it and finding the strength to let go of codependence.

With a masterful forward by Darren Kavinoky, the cocreator and host of the hit television show, Deadly Sins on Investigation Discovery and featured "criminal interventionist" on the PRISM Award-nominated Breaking Point, also on the ID network, Addict in the House is praised as a 'must read' by revered behavior and addiction experts like Josh Shipp, Heather Hayes, and Dr. Akikur Mohammad, to name a few.

"I can't even begin to articulate how humbled and grateful I am to be in a position to publish something so important to me and be aligned with a celebrated publisher like New Harbinger, a publishing house that is genuinely committed to demystifying addiction and the treatment thereof," said Dr. Robin Barnett. Barnett continued, "I wrote Addict in the House to honor those who have afforded us the opportunity to learn and grow through their struggle, to simplify and demystify the most daunting parts of the addiction battle, and provide the tools for families to take action. The addiction battle will not be won in treatment centers; it will be won in the home. The healing starts by acknowledging the addict under our own roof and most importantly, knowing what to do next."
