  • The piece began when Alan Doggett from Colet Court School asked Rice and Lloyd Webber to write a piece that he could use for his choir's end-of-term concert.
  • Originally produced in England at the Colet Court School in 1968 and in America in 1970. Professionally, it has also been produced at Playhouse in the Park.
