This past season contained a higher than usual amount of Broadway shows involving death; in fact, Operation Mincemeat and Dead Outlaw both specifically revolved around transporting a corpse! And Death Becomes Her leans into the hilarity as two women become gorgeous living corpses before our very eyes, thanks to a touch of magic. But plays and musicals about death and its attendant macabre topics have been a part of the theatre landscape for many decades...

Today’s subject Stephen Oremus has been living his theatre life for many years now as a music director/pianist/orchestrator/arranger/musical supervisor. His career is something many of us dream of having but very few of us actually achieve. His current project brings him full circle. Stephen is the Musical Supervisor/Arranger/Orchestrator for Kennedy Center’s Broadway Center Stage production of tick, tick..BOOM! which is running through February 4th in the Eisenhower Theater. Stephen was the show’s original Orchestrator/Arranger/Musical Director in 2001. His work can be heard on the original cast recording.

Just in time for Halloween, Marietta Theatre Company serves up a campy combo of Grease meets The Walking Dead with Zombie Prom, running at the Lyric Studio on the Square from October 18 - November 2. This 1950's musical was first produced at the Red Barn Theatre, Key West, Florida in 1993. It opened off-Broadway in New York City at the Variety Arts Theatre in 1996, later opening in London with a UK premiere at the off-West End Landor Theatre in 2009.

China Broadway Entertainment announces its latest original global musical: Road to Heaven: The Jonathan Lee Musical. Adapted from the novel by internationally acclaimed author Li Xiuwen, the original musical will feature music by one of China's most iconic singer-songwriters Jonathan Lee.

Set in the hallways and classrooms of Enrico Fermi High in the nuclear fifties, ZOMBIE PROM is an old-fashioned love story with a zombie twist.

Awesome Theatre announces 'TERROR-RAMA 2: PROM NIGHT', the follow up to 2014's hit, TERROR-RAMA featuring two new horror plays: 'Purity' by Claire Ann Rice and 'Sexy Vampire Academy' by Anthony R. Miller. Directed by Colin Johnson, 'TERROR-RAMA 2: PROM NIGHT runs October 14-29 at SF's premier independent theatre venue, PianoFight.

Zombie lives matter! And Jonny 'without an H' Warner will try to prove just that as Columbia Children's Theatre's YouTheatre presents the Off-Broadway cult sensation Zombie Prom October 23 - 25. Performances are Friday at 7:00 pm, Saturday at 3:00 and 7:00 pm, and Sunday at 3:00 and 7:00 pm. Proceeds from the 7:00 pm Sunday performance will benefit the Officer Gregory Alia Memorial Fund and the Central Carolina Community Trust flood relief efforts. General admission tickets are $10.00 and $8.00 for active military and seniors with proper ID. Advance ticket purchases are strongly recommended and may be purchased securely on-line at www.columbiachildrenstheatre.com. The Old Globe opens its 2015-2016 Season with IN YOUR ARMS, a World Premiere dance-theatre musical featuring direction and choreography by Tony Award winner Christopher Gattelli (Newsies, Godspell, Lincoln Center Theater's The King and I and South Pacific) and original music by Tony Award winner Stephen Flaherty (Ragtime, Once on This Island; two-time Oscar nominee for Anastasia). The production begins tonight, September 16, with an opening slated for September 24, and runs through October 25, 2015.

Among them, the company can claim 18 Tony Awards, 4 Pulitzer Prizes, 6 Pulitzer finalist distinctions, 3 Emmy Awards, and 2 Academy Awards; to list all their honors would take several pages.

Variety reports that the off-Broadway musical ZOMBIE PROM could be lurching toward the big screen soon.

Award-winning Pantochino Productions Inc. has announced its 2015/16 season which includes three original musicals for family audiences, a Teen Theatre production and an exciting new series produced in conjunction with the Milford Arts Council.

Warehouse Theatre Company will open it's 2015 season with Kenneth Lonergan's 1996 comedy This Is Our Youth. The play, fresh off it's Broadway debut, will receive it's Central Ohio premiere at Warehouse Theatre beginning with a preview performance on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at MadLab Theatre and Gallery.
