Forbidden Broadway: Rude Awakening

The world premiere production of the brand new musical comedy Bullets Over Broadway, written by Woody Allen and based on the screenplay by Allen and Douglas McGrath for the 1994 film, will begin preview performances tomorrow, March 11 and officially open Thursday, April 10, 2014 at The St. James Theatre (246 West 44th Street). The new musical will be directed and choreographed by five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman. Nominations for the 53rd Annual Drama Desk Awards were announced this morning at the New York Friars Club. 'A Catered Affair' led the way with 12 nominations.

The current New York edition of Gerard Alessandrini's FORBIDDEN BROADWAY: Rude Awakening will take its Annual Spring Hiatus from Off-Broadway's 47th Street Theatre beginning Tuesday, March 25, 2008.

The cast of Broadway's 'Spring Awakening' visited the 25th Anniversary production of Forbidden Broadway, 'Rude Awakening' on Monday, January 28. Both casts had a laugh meeting their spoofed and real-life counter-parts.

Dai (enough) returns to the NY stage written and preformed by Iris Bahr. Dai premiered last season at The Culture Project, after which it played a sold-out month-long engagement at the Edinburgh Theatre Festival in August. In addition to receiving two 2007 NY Drama Desk Award nominations, including Best Solo Performance, and a UK Stage Award nomination for Best Solo Performance at this year's Edinburgh Festival, Ms. Bahr played an invitation-only performance of Dai in May for more than 100 U.N. Ambassadors and Diplomats at the personal request of Israeli UN Ambassador, Dan Gillermann.

While conflict may continue just blocks away, there is one show, Dai (enough), that shows the human side of another important conflict issue (the Middle East), with previews starting tonight.

On Tuesday, October 2nd, Gerard Alessandrini's Forbidden Broadway marked its 25th Anniversary with a brand-new edition Forbidden Broadway: Rude Awakening, at the 47th Street Theatre. To mark the occasion, Mayor Michael Bloomberg's Office of Theatre, Film and Television named October 2, 2007 as 'Forbidden Broadway Day.' Chita Rivera read a proclamation from Mayor Michael Bloomberg and unveiled a street sign renaming West 47th Street 'Forbidden Broadway.'

On Tuesday, October 2nd, Gerard Alessandrini's Forbidden Broadway marks its 25th Anniversary with a brand-new edition Forbidden Broadway: Rude Awakening, at the 47th Street Theatre (304 West 47 Street). To mark the occasion, Mayor Michael Bloomberg's Office of Theatre, Film and Television has named October 2, 2007 as 'Forbidden Broadway Day.' Opening night curtain is at 7PM.
