FLASHDANCE tells the unforgettable story of Alex Owens, a working-class girl from Pittsburgh striving to make her dreams of becoming a professional dancer a reality. She works by day at a steel mill, where she catches the eye of her boss Nick Hurley. By night she works as a “flashdancer” at a local bar but longs to become a student at the prestigious Shipley Dance Academy.
The Paramount Pictures film was a runaway hit with a worldwide gross of $150 million. The Grammy Award-winning FLASHDANCE soundtrack achieved a similar level of success, spawning such hits as “Gloria,” “Manhunt,” “Maniac,” “I Love Rock ‘n Roll,” and the Academy Award-winning theme “Flashdance - What A Feeling,” all of which are included in FLASHDANCE – THE MUSICAL’s score along with over 10 new songs penned by Cary and Roth.
