Just caught another show, and here are my thoughts! While it didn't have that wow factor, it was enjoyable, especially seeing how much fun the audience was having. This isn't groundbreaking theater; it's more of a jukebox musical. But sometimes, that's exactly what you need—a show that guarantees a good time, especially for those visiting from out of town who want to experience Broadway.

The joy and energy were palpable in the audience, and sometimes, that's all you need to leave with a smile. While the show didn't push boundaries, it delivered on entertainment and the power of music, making it a worthwhile experience for those looking for a fun night out.

but yes, I do agree. It probably will not last long,

I caught the show again on Saturday as well. I have come to realize that those romcom films we pretend not to like, but they're our guilty pleasure? That's this show. Thoroughly so enjoyable and fun and the performers are incredible. Especially the dancing done by the ensemble, and the leads. I love it.

Hopefully they’ll do a cast album!

It’s already recorded - just awaiting a release date. Corey Cott mentioned at the SD on opening night that they had a listening party for it a few days prior

I think the flash sale they did was a very smart move. The theater seemed pretty full on Saturday. I didn't see the mezzanine or balcony, but can anyone confirm how full those sections were? This could slowly build a following- at least I'm praying it does. We need this joy right now.

To be fair, a Saturday night is the least telling sign, most shows will always have their biggest audience at that time.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

What would be the most telling sign? Which performance?

It doesn't matter how many people are in the audience. What matters is how many people paid to be in the audience, and how much they paid to be there. "The house looked pretty full to me!" tells us nothing.

I know there have been comps galore at this show. We'll see what the numbers look like tomorrow.

As someone may have already said, this show could work great on tour.

I really, really enjoyed this yesterday. The book is really well done. Hope they manage to stay alive until at least end of June or July!

Thrilled to hear this! I’m hoping they’ll release it soon as it helps with marketing.

This show has been on TDF since it started basically but the dates only go through this weekend while others like Water For Elephants and Hadestown have gone into next week and beyond. Makes me wonder if it is closing this weekend. I hope not!

"Makes me wonder if it is closing this weekend. I hope not!"

I got a ticket for show next week and thought shows have to give 2 week notice before closing.

They don't have to do a two week notice.

If they don’t do a two week notice, I think they’re still obligated to pay the actors for 2 weeks?

what's that musical that gave a week's notice?  was it Paradise Square?

Ok. For my sake, I hope they do not close before next week. Would love to see it run through the summer but I am fully aware there is no freaking way that will happen sadly.

Maybe the first post-Tony's casualty?

That title already belongs to Lempicka.

My bad. I meant post Tony Awards, not nominations

Looks like they stopped selling balcony seats.

Well. That can't be good. I did notice their ticket prices have gone up. Maybe they're hoping to sell the mezzanine seats at a higher price and hold on until just after the Tony Awards. Unless someone has intel that they're closing before then. Updated On: 5/8/24 at 08:30 AM
