I think today was the first day I saw all-Tammy. Prior to that it was Platt all day & night. Surely they alternate? 
 

I vaguely recall phillypinto. Were they the Honeymoon In Vegas shill?

Anyone know why there is no performance on 31st October?

Thankfully prices in mid week October are $50 - $250, much lower than weekends later on.

Not sure which is more depressing a musical about a con woman who ripped off poor people in the name of Jesus or the Queen of Versailles about a maga woman ripping people off to spend time with Trump at mar a Lago

Well, I don't think we want all musicals to play like the lives of the saints. There's certainly nothing depressing about portraying these characters and these vile acts on stage as long as the point of view of the show doesn't endorse them.

I'm not convinced that Tammy Faye was a con woman. Hugely naive, yes, but I don't believe she was aware of the scams that Jim Bakker pulled. Her trusting nature and compassion for others despite popular opinions at the time., is also what makes her an interesting figure. Tammy's first big song in the show, at least in London, 'Right Kind of Faith' is all about that and is one of my favourites in the score

I agree that I don't think TAMMY FAYE was implicit in her husband's shady deals. I think she would probably have been too busy (or looped out on medication) to notice. The investigators/prosecution team certainly found no reason to charge her with any crimes. 

I also agree that "Right Kind of Faith" is a fab song and the scene that supports it is when the show really took off for me. Katie earned her Olivier right then and there.

Cannot wait to see this revised version. :-)

Certainly in the Film 'The Eyes of Tammy Faye' which is based on the same material this is, it's clear that she was kept out of all the business stuff, they were meant to be wives and mothers only in those days, though it's only briefly referenced in the musical.

100% agree! Because the show had been quite energetic up until that point, it was the first time that there was only 1 person on stage, and there was a stillness in the audience. You know there is a song coming, the first big solo number in the show. You have an amazing lead in, setting the song up and then she just blew everyone away. The whole thing  was so well written and staged to make it the big moment that it was.

The fact that they have months to prepare for Broadway, and tickets are already on sale puts them ahead of most.  I’ve seen ads online for it.  Gets it in people’s heads early.

Tammy Faye may or may not have been complicit in the financial dealings of Jim Bakker.  She did have a side of her that was praiseworthy.  At a time when most evangelicals in the 80s were openly condemning of the gay community during the AIDS crisis, Tammy Faye supported victims of the plague.  https://www.intomore.com/entertainment/film/exclusive-clip-tammy-faye-bakker-queer-ally/

Likewise I have tickets for both SB and TF for a weekend in November, and despite having seen them both before, it's TF that i'm coming for.
