We just found this and thought it was an interesting addition to the digital lottery scene. Anyone know how they can do free tickets to a show like Book of Mormon? I'm guessing it must be a trade of some sort?
BroadwayBox is owned by Broadway.com which is a ticket broker. I've won tickets from them in the past, and they had the full price on them. They're just giving away their own inventory I guess.
im assuming they are trying to get publicity. Todaytix is more popular so they probably want more people to download their app and buy tickets from them.
"asmith, why are you so concerned? As I said before, they are a ticket broker and have legitimate access to the tickets. "
I'm not concerned, just curious. That was also before I saw your response.

Specific questions like "is it an anniversary or end of summer thing? Why the month of August? Why not July or September, or is it truly arbitrary?" can sometimes be answered in the official rules.
I generally will read anything concerning something I find curious. In high school I was ushing for the national tour of Wicked and noticed that we had to put in stuffers for the Midwife, who only has like 3 lines, but none for swings. I wanted to know why, so I read the Equity agreement. It's not out of concern, or to confirm the obvious, but out of genuine interest.
It's August because August is quiet for the theater industry, in terms of the people at Broadway.com/BroadwayBox being busy at work. If that's not good enough of an answer, it's arbitrary.
Philly, I'm sure it's real. I've won real tickets from them in the past. As I said.
I highly doubt its fake Philly. Didnt it say they are only giving away one pair? If you look at the number of people who tweeted them to get the extra entry, Id guess at least 200 people entered. So your odds in winning are about one out of 200(+additional FB/Twitter click entries).

This, plus I agree that they are trying to raise awareness of their app because you get an extra entry when you download the app for the first time after entering the daily lottery. They probably are probably trying to get people to realize that they have similar if not better discounts than TodayTix and if people download their app it'll raise awareness of that fact. Simple.
