Wow, that wasn't long since the last revival, which was absolutely fantastic.

Do we really need another revival of this so soon?

This is a stunning production by the Young Vic and not surprising it's coming to Broadway. Wonder if The Crucible which is also directed by Van Hove and produced by Rudin will be postponed until late next year.

That's two Olivier winners debuting in the same season as King Charles III is coming in October.

I never saw the last one because I still had afterglow from the Allison Janney, Britany Murphy, Anthony LaPaglia one.

But Ivo?  And MARK STRONG?  Sign me up immediatamente, il mio amico.

The article points out one of the main reasons for this transfer:

"...the producers have decided that this latest revival, directed by Ivo van Hove, an experimental theater director from Belgium, is so different from the others that audiences will be eager to see it."

I heard this was transferring a few weeks ago and really didn't believe that they'd actually do it. The Lyceum plus a show with no real bankable Hollywood names never has a good outcome...

I saw that revival as well Namo. Excellent, excellent, excellent.

Damn now I'm missing Brittany Murphy. What a loss.

This production is unbelievably powerful. Searing, audacious, lyrical and brutal. And completely unlike any production that's been in NY before.

I'm more surprised Scott Rudin is producing 2 Ivo Van Hove revivals in one season?

The Lapaglia revival is one of my favorite theater memories ever. That was my first real exposure to the play and it was love at first sight for me. Plus LaPaglia. Mmmmmmmm.....

Mark Strong is known to US audiences although not to the same heights as say Hugh Jackman but the production itself will sell it to audiences because it so different from any production that has come over it.

Van Hove is hot property, he's directing a new Simon Stephens piece for the Young Vic later this year and also reviving King and Country in 2016 at the Barbican so he's going to be very busy which I why I think Rudin might postpone The Crucible so not to compete with himself unless the names have already been cast and a theatre has been set already.

Not to mention Lazarus with music by David Bowie at NYTW this season.

Yeah, that was my thought... I think this prod is incredible and has serious hit potential, but having two in one season is competing with himself.

wow i just noticed that A View from the Bridge and The Crucible were up against each other for the Olivier award this year. Was that Crucible production the one Scott Rudin was gonna bring in, or was it a new production?

LOL ^

I am over the moon about this announcement. I've never seen a production of A View From the Bridge and this will be my first exposure to the work. Seems like it'll be unlike any other ever seen, which makes me even more excited.

And not to mention Antigone with Juliette Binoche at BAM.  None of this is to evene mention his international work, like The Hidden Force in Amsterdam and his work in opera (Zurich and BSO have him next season, if I'm not mistaken)...busy man.

I am incredibly excited!

I don't know this play well at all, but Ivo Van Hove has directed some of the most brilliant things I've ever seen, so I'm beyond thrilled about this.

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

They need to rename Broadway - The West End LOL.

This show was the hottest ticket of the year, the whole run virtually sold out immediately, I imagine they do on stage seating again, these are excellent seats and hopefully they go up for sale as non premium.

Deadline points out that this will offered to Lincoln Center Theater subscribers as their fall Broadway production, since The King and I is still running at the Beaumont. That should help ticket sales, I guess.
