Has this been on anyone's radar, or is anyone planning to see it? I went tonight and thought it was quietly and beautifully powerful, especially since it's essentially two people, one of whom is chained, talking. The play itself deals with the fallout from the atrocities committed in apartheid-era South Africa, and I was definitely worried going in that I would be lost since I'm not very knowledgeable on that subject. But on a larger scale, it's all about forgiveness and how a country that has oppressed its own citizens can recover and mend itself, and I found that everything felt very resonant given the recent protests here about police brutality and the lasting influence of slavery and racism in America.

I don't mean to make the whole thing sound unbearably heavy- it's much more varied than that. Bu it was a really gripping evening the kind of play that hooks you before you even know you're riveted by what's going on. The acting is excellent, with both of the leads giving finely tuned and subtle performances, and the lighting is basically a character on its own. The house seemed fairly full, but I hope this catches people's attention- it's a very worthwhile evening of theatre.

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

I saw  the play and reviewed it for BWW when it was performed in South Africa last year, and thought it was magnificent.
