But now, we should try to figure out which theatre it could be going into.

You poor thing! You fell right asleep in the middle of writing your comment.  You must be as bored by your comment as we are.

Yeah, the one millionth revival of Fiddler will really bring in the younger crowds which is, I believe, the current demographic they are trying to cultivate. Hell, even the older group have seen it so many times I doubt they will be rushing to get tickets.

We saw the last one. No intention of seeing this. Agree re Burstein being a great actor & he will be great in the role but thanks but no thanks.

There's something oddly fitting about Fiddler opening in January. Not sure if the Robbins staging/choreography is a good thing or not. Hasn't every revival besides the 2004 one tried to recreate it? But whatever, Sher is inventive so maybe it will be good.

I think contractually, you have to use the Robbins choreography.  Correct me if I'm wrong.

I love Danny Burstein, and I will see him in just about anything, but I feel like he's been playing some variation of the Eastern European Jewish man for the last couple of years.

And yet, if it were suddenly announced he were playing something quite different, what would we be heairng?

"I love Danny Burstein, but in what universe is he remotely [anything other than an Eastern European Jewish man]."

Would love to see Ana Gasteyer as Golde, and Carol Kane as Yente.

Henrik, he's been very versatile in the past, I just feel like he's been playing the same character since Talley's Folly (save for his role in Golden Boy.)

But since Talley's Folly, and discounting Golden Boy, his only other role was Herr Schultz- another charming Eastern European Jewish man.

There was also his character in The Snow Geese.

So He should have turned down the role of a lifetime because he has played too many Jews recently? I swear this board sometimes...

No, I'm just saying I'd like to see him play something else now.

I get that. I just think it'd be a bit baffling for him to turn down what may be the juiciest role of his career (and even the one that gets him that elusive Tony) simply because he has been playing "too many" (what? Like two or three?) European Jewish characters lately. I'm reminded of an interview I read with Anna Kendrick where she was asked how much her management took issue with her doing three musicals back to back and her answer was something like: "I don't think anyone in their right mind would tell me not to play the great roles in INTO THE WOODS, THE LAST 5 YEARS, and PITCH PERFECT 2." Same with Burstein, what actor would turn down the opportunity in starring as Herr Schultz in a high-profile revival of CABARET, or the role in TALLEY'S FOLLIES at Roundabout for which he was highly praised, or a mammoth role like Tevye in FIDLER directed by Sher. It'd be a little silly if you ask me. I, for one, cannot wait to see what he does with the part. I certainly hope Ana Gasteyer or Donna Murphy or Linda Emond join him.

I'd see Danny Burstein in pretty much anything, and I'm in the camp that thinks he'll be a funny, moving, maybe even revelatory Tevye. I love how Grandpa Roxy says he thinks he'll be great and that he's wonderful, but then dismisses the production with a thanks but no thanks. So...you like him as an actor, you think he'll be great in the part aaaand...you're not gonna see it. Strange fellow, you are.

I know Lord Lloyd A*shole is planning on dumping his SCHOOL OF C*CK...I mean...ROCK in the Winter Garden next season, but I would love to see this production there. I think Bartlett Sher would work wonders in that space.

In my head, I keep hearing Danny Burstein say "I've got...FIVE...daughters!"

And I smile.

PalJoey, it could easily end up being the performance of the season. It may also be the definitive performance of his career. He is so consistently stunning.

Remind me HOW he lost the Tony for his Buddy in FOLLIES again? To quote Fred Willard in A MIGHTY WIND..."Wha' happened?"

I mean, Mme. Pretentious was doomed...I mean, bound to win for DIANE PAULUS' PORGY AND MESS from the minute she signed the contract, but how did Burstein lose? Really? I guess I'm just stirrin' up an ol' can of worms here, so never mind.
