Just what we need. Who is lining up to rain $150 per ticket on this when the play was just here a couple of years ago?

The irony of your screen name is not lost on me.
:)
But seriously, I'm really surprised someone would bring this back so soon. I suggest that they change the title to "Cherry Jones Wants Another Tony".

Well, it's been SEVEN years, and while that's a tad soon, this production is truly wonderful. It would be a shame to keep it from a bigger audience.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Incorrect on the seven years thing. Roundabout did it in 2010 starting Judith Ivey. If this new production is truly revalatory, then fine, bring her on in. But commercially speaking, I still wonder who is going to buy enough tickets to make it recoup.

any hope for a PASSION or REALLY REALLY transfer??? I'm still mad that INTO THE WOODS lost its steam.

Roundabout isn't listed on IBDB. Which is odd. I wonder why.

It might not recoup, but that's for the investors to worry about, not the audience.

And yes, I do think it's that good.

The Roundabout production isn't on IBDB because it was as the Laura Pels, their Off-Broadway space. The last Broadway production was in 2005.

Still, that doesn't dilute the audience for a new revival?

It depends. If people want to pay to see a certain star, then a revival will happen sooner rather than later. The timing would be interesting, since Zachary Quinto should be doing press for the new Star Trek movie soon, but I don't know if Spock and Tennessee Williams share the same audience.

There are a lot of people that might only know a little about B'way...but most know even less about off b'way. And while many of "us" would be willing to go the SHOW, most tourists are only interested in seeing a BROADWAY show.

Time will tell. (And thanks for the clarification, Theatreguy.

The Revisionist is getting great word of mouth. No idea about Eisenberg/Redgrave availability.

Count me among those thrilled at the idea of a Menagerie transfer.

Cherry Jones is one of my favorite actresses and The Glass Menagerie is one of my favorite plays so I'll be first in line if this transfers.

No point in having theaters on Broadway sitting empty, bring in a show that is on tour or a new show such as Love Never Dies, Martin Guerre or Whistle Down The Wind etc for a strictly limited run until something more permanent is confirmed.

It is nearly the end of February, and the Tony season ends in late April. If a production is not already 95% prepared for a Broadway run, it seems a little late to put it up now.

I would love Passion to go into Circle in The Square... because its about time for Judy Kuhn to win a Tony. But alas I doubt a transfer will happen.
When did everybody decide I'm the one who's the FLOP!?!
