So, ATC is down again. Try to log on, and this is what you see (it's been like this for over an hour at a minimum):
Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Too many connections in /usr/www/users/vj/allthatchat/_constants.php on line 51 We are sorry. There has been a technical problem. Please try again in a few minutes.
Why do so many people take such joy in their troubles? You don't like ATC, don't go there. It's just petty and childish to be happy over another board's difficulties. Are we going to go through this again? The last bout of nastiness when this happened.
I agree. I read both boards regularly, and am informed by both. I don't agree with everything here or there, but there is much of value in both places.
Sure they do, and some names you've heard of in the theater community don't even post anonymously, e.g. Michael Feingold (theater critic for the Village Voice). So does Wayman Wong, a theater columnist/editor for the Daily News. I'm also certain that some very well known theater names post anonymously.
And PalJoey, knowing how educated you are in all things relating to the theater community, I suspect that your post might have been sprinkled with a touch of sarcasm.
Not addressed towards you, RoM, just all the people who were happy it happened. Reread the thread I linked. There was a lot of vitriolic nastiness when this happened two years ago. I suspect many of those people were banned there, because ATC's moderation is much stricter than BWW's.
I just checked and there's a message that says: "All That Chat Will Be Back Later Today". Hmmmm? Which site is older? Just wondering. from RC in Austin, Texas (visiting NYC from June 7-10, 2013).
You know, wait a minute. Schadenfreude smadenfreude. This is only a message board- for fun. Making fun of ATC is all in fun. Stop taking it all so seriously.
All due respect, Jane, your former posts suggest otherwise. You said you disliked them so much you asked them to delete your account. Why simply not bother to ever post there again? Seems a little extreme. Why take the extra effort to make that point?
We in the Broadway Message Board community are here for only one reason: we love Broadway Message Boards. We should be more supportive of our art, creating messages on Broadway Message Boards.
I don't know, Ghostlight. I'm now trying to remember why I wanted my account deleted. Oh, I think I have it. I was afraid that if I ever read anything on there again, I might have been tempted to post something that would probably garner the same old replies from someone without a sense of humor. I deleted so that I couldn't post under any circumstances.
And yeah, I was affected by that site because I get frustrated when someone doesn't "get it."
It's been so long now that I really don't have any feelings left for the place. I haven't read anything on there for years.
After reading the thread from 2011, I came to the conclusion that someone "inside" "Spider-Man" hacked the board. So, why not say that this time it was someone "inside" "REBECCA", more specifically, Ben Sprecher.
*Please sense the strong sarcasm when reading this*
