I've been listening bemusedly to Colm Wilkinson's Eurovision-baiting solo album from the mid-Seventies, and it's a real eye-opener, if for nothing other than showing how unique and versatile Colm's voice is. From "R and R Music," which can only be described as Led Zeppelin performing "The Time Warp," to "First of May," which is an Abba-style Europop ballad with astoundingly bizarre lyrics, using Christmas trees as a symbol of the difference between children and adults, Colm tries everything with varying amounts of success, but it's certainly an interesting listen.
I'd really get a kick out of listening to that! Where can I get this, and perhaps other earlier Wilkinson recordings?
I enjoy listening to Wilkinson's recordings at various points in his career and noticing how his virtuosity, voice and interpretation have developed through the years.
The record has been out of print since the Seventies and seems to be all but forgotten. If I thought no one on the board or any mods would make a fuss, I'd post a link to the vinyl rip, since I don't think this one will ever be put back in print, even if Wilkinson should ever die.
