"I think Glee is way too sharp, smart, witty, clever and emotionally confronting for the masses." - Dave19 - "What's next? Snow Black and the 7 Swaggers? Shasquirta and the Beast? 101 Weavematians? Willis in Ghettoland?" - Dave19, in reference to the new ANNIE remake.

Ow god, let's hope this musical isn't going to be as bad as the movie..

A show for women to go to? Yes...but I hope he expects an equal amount of gay men, and incorporates that into the show as well.

And let there be on-stage seating!
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

I'd be surprised if Cheyenne Jackson isn't involved.

Some people can get a thrill, knitting sweaters and sitting still. That's okay for some people, who don't know they're alive!

"...to be participants in the show." Just imagine the fangirls/boys for this one! No one will ask about the show curtains, but only about which seats give you the most action!
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

LOL. I guess I just don't understand the hate for this since it was actually a pretty damn good movie.

I thought the movie sucked. It was sexy, but it sucked.

Well obviously you're entitled to your opinion, but it's not in the majority. The film holds an 80% over at Rotten Tomatoes and got great reviews.

I agree, my opinion is the minority. Most people loved it. I just happened to think it was stupid.

So this is just going to be Broadway Bares... but with even less women in it?

I, too, didn't care for the movie. I didn't mind it. A strong, mediocre piece. With the heavy amount of "sex appeal" in the marketing, I think critics were surprised that it wasn't just another one of "those" movies... hence the higher ratings.

I have a feeling they're going to try to make it a serious musical, like the movie was a serious movie and just like that, I think it will upset some people who are hoping for just 2 hours with no plot and men stripping (not that there's anything wrong with that...)

^^ I agree.

If it was no plot and just men stripping, I would probably try to see it at least once a month. But if it is more like the movie, for me it will be one and done.

I actually liked the movie. I didn't like the strip scenes. I thought they were too cheesy and not sexy. I didn't understand why the guys couldn't just dance a little and get naked like female strippers do, but it was explained to me that women, unlike straight men, like a "story" with their strip tease. They want a man in uniform or Tarzan or some other fantasy. I guess I can understand that to a degree, but with it being turned into a musical I feel like that will add another layer of cheese and I wonder if it will be possible at that point to treat it as a serious musical.
That's right! Underscore mother-fu@#ers!

I hope the other layer of cheese is mozzerella.

I guess Dick Cheese would be a bad male stripper name, right?

As much as I love cheese, I don't want a cheesedick. I'll have a cheesestick, but not a cheesedick. Regular dick is fine.

Ugh, I did not like the movie. It was like Requiem for a Dream with male strippers.
Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!

REQUIEM FOR A DREAM would make an amazing opera.
