I feel somewhat diffident about posting this, as there are others here who have demonstrated far greater passion than I for this remarkable woman, but it's after noon, so.... here goes.

A few years back at a benefit concert for Gay Center in Los Angeles, she performed. I went backstage to get my 1964 Life Magazine with her on the cover autographed.
Her new husband said "Look Carol.. That is a very old old photo." She retorted. " Yes... Those were my teeth!"
