Roundabout Next Musical?

Since Bye Bye Birdie Roundabout have got their act together with musicals, since then Roundabout have brought the critically acclaimed Tony musical Anything Goes back to Broadway and now the critically acclaimed The Mystery of Edwin Drood, which is hot favorite to win a Tony this year.

There are a lot of musicals which aren't viable for a commercial producer to bring to Broadway, this is where Roundabout come in, with their not for profit ethos?

So what would you like to see Roundabout revive next on Broadway?

I would like to see Aspect of Love and Sunday in the Park with George.

The Roundabout did Sunday in the Park with George in 2008. I think we can wait a few more years before bringing it back.

I saw Via Galactica. Bring it back only if you can round up the original cast. Oops, sadly many of the leads are no longer with us.

Jason Robert Brown is also trying to get Roundabout to produce Honeymoon in Vegas next season, since Tony Danza dropped out he doesn't think the show is "commercially viable".

If they were to do MERRILY any time soon, would it probably be a transfer of the Menier production?

I guess you missed THE PEOPLE IN THE PICTURE.

THE ROBBER BRIDEGROOM is a great prospect: fun show, tuneful score, several great roles for talented actors (hopefully they would continue their recent practice of casting actual musical theatre actors instead of B-list TV stars).
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

The Robber Bridegroom was supposed to be at the Laura Pels this season but in September they decided to replace it with Talley's Folly.

ON THE TWENTIETH CENTURY will be in Roundabout's 2013-2014 season at Studio 54, I've heard.

As bdn223 said, I've also heard rumblings that they may produce HONEYMOON IN VEGAS in the Sondheim come the fall.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Roundabout doesn't have the best track record with original musicals, so we'll see. Honeymoon should get an out-of-town tryout, for sure.

Between MERRILY, BRIDEGROOM, ON THE TWENTIETH CENTURY and their already-announced PHILADELPHIA STORY revival, Roundabout is putting together a promising season (in titles alone... here's hoping they can keep the qualitative momentum going...)

Ah yes, ON THE TWENTIETH CENTURY. One of a dozen new musicals Chenoweth has said she's doing next season.
"I think Glee is way too sharp, smart, witty, clever and emotionally confronting for the masses." - Dave19 - "What's next? Snow Black and the 7 Swaggers? Shasquirta and the Beast? 101 Weavematians? Willis in Ghettoland?" - Dave19, in reference to the new ANNIE remake.
