to me it would be strange to hear Anne perform. The way she performs IDAD in the film would seem very strange out of context, and I can't imagine people being that impressed if she were to sing it in a more traditional way.
I think they'd be smart to do what the original London cast did at the 1985 Olivier Awards: a medley of I Dreamed a Dream, Bring Him Home and One Day More.
Maybe this is for the Opening Number? Too bad other contenders for Best Picture do not have a competing musical number ...Hugh and Anne have hosted separate Opening Numbers for the Oscars!
Of all the great songs in the movie, and that was the only one nominated?!
The other songs were ineligible to be nominated. They were previously written and composed songs. "Suddenly" was an originally written, never before heard song exclusively for the movie. It is eligible because it is new. The other songs are old.
Would Hugh separately perform "Suddenly" since it's a nominated song anyways? I know they don't perform the nominated songs every year, but it's actually a decent category this year. I wouldn't think they'd miss the opportunity of having Adele perform.
The Jan 25/Feb 2 edition of Entertainment Weekly( yes I KNOW but I needed bath rm reading) has Zadan & Meron, the Oscars producers, quoted as " promise" more performances than o any previous Oscar show"" tho "they'll all be movie oriented". So stand warned -the show will go to 1AM!
I honestly just hope they let Aaron Tveit perform because he has been marginalized by the producers for all of awards season. The only show they are currently letting him attend is the SAG awards and I only think thats because of union rules. He has more screen time than Ms. Hathaway, although no big number, his character is the voice of revolution.
