I need to find information on 1890's Germany and tank wedekind. I have been looking and looking for a couple weeks now. I have so many tabs open with little things about Herr Wedekind but I
Not enough. And I can't find any good reference pictures of the life and limes in Germany in 1890s.
Where do all the good designers go to get their information.

Try a reference librarian at a public library or academic library. They're nice, eager to assist, and very helpful. Most libraries have instant chat or IM capabilities on their websites that allow you to work with a reference librarian remotely without having to step foot in a library...although you should try that too.

Don't trust the internet and visit a library!

Is the Internet suddenly the only source of information in the world? Go to a library. Open a book.

I wholeheartedly agree. Nothing beats a good old fashioned library.
I was so pissed to learn that upon my return to NYC in 2011 that one of my favorite libraries, The Donnell Library was shuttered. I lived in that library. LOL.
I don't care who's wrong or right. I don't really want to fight no more. It's time for letting go.

I do go to the library; school and local. They don't have anything on Frank. All the books I find that I could use are in German. The other ones I want are out of print and are expensive used. Thought someone on the boards could help me out.

But the PEOPLE at the library should be able to help you find stuff -- stuff that is not physically AT your library. That's what Librarians are FOR.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Wedekind is not an obscure writer. In addition to his own work, his cabaret performances were very influential on a young Bertolt Brecht.

I taught SPRING AWAKENING for years and had no trouble finding printed info on the author at the UCLA library. So the info is out there and, as others have suggested, a librarian can help you get it.

(I studied under the late Carl Mueller, who seems to have published the latest translation of Wedekind's plays. His introduction to that volume should be a help to you.)
