We Will Rock You in the USA?

I saw the Toronto production while it was at the (then called) Canon Theatre (It's the Ed Mirvish Theatre Now), before it transferred to the Panasonic. It was a great production.

I saw in another post here that it's going to be in a few USA cities this year. Tried googling about it but can't find any info. Whos producing/in the cast, etc.

Thanks to anyone with any info!

One of my favorite guilty pleasures. I've seen it 3 times in London and I just love it. I do hope that the tour keeps as much of the staging as they can as that is half the fun of the piece

I heard of this show about 7 years ago. Does anyone remember a reality TV show called "Rock Star: INXS"? One of the contestants who did not win that show went on to perform in We WIll Rock You. I remember his first name as Mig, but that's about it.

So what's the plot like? Curious since they put it together off of music already in existence.

MiG Ayesa is the guy who finished in the Top 3 for Rock Star: INXS. Also was in ROCK OF AGES on Broadway. Essentially the plot is this totalitarian government that has forbade music. These 2 outcasts, Galileo & Scaramouche fall in love while battling the Killer Queen and Commander Khashoggi. There are also two revolutionaries, Meat and Brit. Notable names that have appeared include Tony Vincent and Kerry Ellis in the UK.

Thanks RockStarNYC! Yep, that was him. Great voice, and if I recall correctly, always sang perfectly in tune. I'll have to watch for when tickets go on sale for the tour.

Suzie McNeil, also from Rock Star: INXS was Oz in the Toronto production. She has a beautiful voice. The show is complete cheese but in a fun self-mocking way. I was living nearby and the lotto was easy to win so I found myself going back a bunch of times.

Will this be a US cast or just an English cast and this is part of their "worldwide tour?"

Dunno. The article does mention that some stars will be leaving after the UK engagement. Quite honestly, would love to see an American cast headlined by Tony Vincent, but honestly, who knows???

"I heard of this show about 7 years ago. Does anyone remember a reality TV show called "Rock Star: INXS"? One of the contestants who did not win that show went on to perform in We WIll Rock You. I remember his first name as Mig, but that's about it."

MiG actually did WWRY before Rock Star: INXS - he was the first replacement Galileo in the West End Show - he took over from Tony Vincent when he left (I think in June 2003). MiG's back playing Galileo in the 10th anniversary arena tour in the UK this year (he has a great voice, but he was too old a decade ago to be playing a high school leaver let alone now) - along with Jenna Lee James - who was the OLC Meat but is now playing Killer Queen.

This is the point where I declare a mis-spent youth at WWRY - in the first 18 months after it opened where I think I saw it about 9 times - all because I had a major crush on Tony Vincent. I haven't seen it in about 7 years now though (it scares me how it can have got that long) since around the time that MiG departed (my little sister was a big MiG fan and I was her chaperone!)

It is utter, utter cheese, but it doesn't take itself too seriously. I have no idea how it would do on Broadway - the London Critics hated it but it proved fairly review proof after doing a few well received TV spots and because of the huge amount of Queen fans in the UK. Still does well out of coach parties/repeat visits/tourists (you don't need to understand what plot there is to enjoy the music!).

I'm curious to see how a tour is received in the US. The Las Vegas production with Tony Vincent ran a little over a year faring only slightly better than Notre Dame de Paris.

The Las Vegas production (iirc) was a much cut down 90 minute version of the show that they did 2 times a night. I know there's not much plot to start with but I was very curious about how they did that - I assume it was just less verses of everything!
