Didn't they already broadcast a concert of CAROUSEL? Somewhere in my vast collection of theater videos I think I have a recording of this. Audra McD and Hugh Jackman? Or was it Brian Stokes Mitchell?? Too bad they never did a broadcast of the Hytner CAROUSEL on Live From Lincoln Center; that was one of the most amazing productions I have ever seen of anything. I would imagaine there is fear for anyone mounting a Broadway revival of CAROUSEL as the question will be "How does it compare to Hytner's?" CAROUSEL opening
You are correct about Live From Lincoln Center telecasts on DVD:
""Live From Lincoln Center" broadcasts are not available for purchase. Our programs are cleared for broadcast only, and our agreements with artists, guilds and unions prohibit us from making them available in any other form."
Most "Live from the Met" opera broadcasts, which are shown on "Great Performances", are released on DVD but they operate under a different contract.
No, actually it the Carnegie Hall CAROUSEL concert that I saw a video of that was NOT televised. It had Audra as Julie and Hugh Jackman as Billy. It was from 2002. Jason Danieley as Enoch Snow, Judy Kaye as Nettie Fowler, Lauren Ward as Carrie Pipperidge, Blythe Danner as Mrs. Mullin, Philip Bosco as the Starkeeper, Norbert Leo Butz as Jigger Craigin and Eden Riegel as Louise.
