Right - let's cast the all-American girl and the Australian hunk as Argentine politicians. Surely there are Latino actors suited to playing those parts?
As much as I ADORE Anne, specially in Les Mis, she is not enough of a diva to portray such a larger than life character. Eva needs to be fierce, bitchy, strong, seductive, and glamorous. I'm afraid her portrayal would be similar to Madonna's in terms of style (not vocal range.) BTW Even though not vocally mindblowing i loved Madonna's performance. And i just can picture Hugh as Che, perhaps as Peron...
I thought the title of this thread was intended sarcastically, as in, "Evita, with Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman? Oh, bitch, please!," followed by sighing and eye rolling.
Perfect. This would be directed by someone whose career is already dead (like most of the characters). Anne would play the "Another Suitcase in Another Hall" girl... Russell Crowe would play the Suitcase. Sasha B-C would play Evita (in the same make-up from "Les Messyrables") and Helena B-C would play the newly-added role of Evita's lesbian confidante (allowing her to whisper-sing songs cut from every other musical she has "done"). Mister Jackman could play the Balcony from which Mr. B-C enacts the big numbah. (I'm sure Sasha could sit on Hugh's shoulders, and then add some muppet-like underhanding.) Tom Hooper himself would play Peron, but he'd have to lip-synch his material, which would be previously sung by.... oh, I dunno.... Ben Affleck.... Kathryn Bigelow in baritonie-drag... ? What a night in the movie-thee-ay-ter that would be!
