They are friends. I am sure the "making fun" was ok. And it was actually very funny. What is not cool is the canceling 45 minutes before a live show. Flu or not.

The shtick with the mother is old and tired.

Hate to say it, but as soon as I heard she was going to be on, I just knew she wouldn't make it to air. I've been to two events she was supposed to appear, and she cancelled both times, and with the flu going around, I just knew she would get it.

That said, I'm sure Liza is a good sport about Kathy and will understand the ribbing.

Lisa and Jane save the day!

I have a feeling Kathy may have burned her Liza bridge with this live telecast. While most of the Liza asides were hysterical and accurate, they got old after awhile.

Anyway, the three ladies were more than enough. Funny and not too full of Bravo plugs.

Kathy and Liza are "acquaintances". Kathy has said so herself. Liza has granted Kathy a few favors. One dig would have been enough but she went on and on with the inferences to Liza being "sick" with pills and booze, kept referring her mother with a glass of wine as Liza #2. She also made fun of Liza being a mess. Lisa Kudrow (who does not know Liza)even threw a few in.

If I had a "friend" in recovery from all matter of substances with health issues, I would never ride a joke that hard.

I'm watching it now and just laughing my ass of along with Lisa Kudrow. I could just watch her laugh for an hour and be thoroughly entertained.

The show was very funny. Kathy is trying to be Graham Norton .. and it might work. I could do without the skits. And the mother shtick is 5 minutes ago. But the show did have me laughing out loud. Oh and Liza and Kathy ARE friends. Not just acquaintances.

Show is filmed in LA. They now use the Price Is Right stage. Which is also where Bill Maher tapes. Liza has been back and forth between NY and LA for Arrested Development. I believe she has been in town since Monday.

I've been in the recovery community for years. We are not a glum lot. We make fun of our own brand of crazy all the time. We can take a joke.. even from hard-riding Kathy Griffin.

I don't know and it's hard to tell when Griffin is kidding, but she did make one reference to Liza's "turbo-jet" arriving after all. So I took it that Minnelli was not in LA.

But I could well be wrong. I imagine there was a cancellation by phone, followed up by the note and flowers; so some time passed.

Myself, I didn't think Griffin or Kudrow said anything that would surprise Minnelli. Surely they've all been around long enough to know that if you don't show, you will be the primary topic of discussion. Just like junior high.

Kathy's joked about Liza for YEARS. Why would this suddenly be the end of their friendship? And after 30-whatever years, Liza would suddenly take such horrible offense to jokes about her NOW? That doesn't sound anything like her personality at all. Does she hate Christine Lahti, too? And most American drag queens?
