I haven't been following this theater season too well, but did the concert even have that much buzz??

I saw the show at City Center recently and loved every minute of it, but I didn't think tickets sales were that good!

They were papering like crazy at Encores.

It wasn't well-attended, and (more importantly) the version that moves (if it moves at all) will probably be very different if they can't retain the cast. That's the nature of the revue format.

I think the producers will need big names to pull this off. Amber Riley of Glee wasn't enough, apparently.

Loved it so much I went back the following night and loved it even more. Stupendous evening of music, dancing, and sheer entertainment.

I think the lack of attendance at this year's Encores run was due to the fact that it was a repeat production from the previous year for that particular audience. A Broadway run would be marketed much more widely. This year's cast was impeccable, but I could definitely see them bringing in one or two headliners.

I want her to do Dreamgirls very badly. I know that there were rumblings a few years ago of Usher wanting to play Curtis on Broadway. Those two with Patina Miller as Lorell would be a dream come true for me. I think with that type of casting it would be a hot ticket.

I already knew this was happening, but I had been told it was looking to open during the summer. I LOVED this at City Center. The clear standout was Adrienne Lenox who, assuming the show would still be open in the spring, would be in the conversation for the featured Tony Award. This is very old-school Broadway, but if they find the right names for publicity purposes, this could do really well. I'd love if they could get Ben Vereen in there.

Joshua Henry was actually a replacement for the original Brandon Victor Dixon, so maybe Dixon will return. But it's too soon to make any calls on where they're headed with this.

(P.S. kids — if Adriane Lenox is to be deemed a "national treasure" — as she should be — let's at least get her name right.)

Dixon is the lead in MOTOWN, which hopefully will still be running by then.

That's right! As this role in COTTON CLUB is something of a "host," maybe that's where they'll go "name" (ala Ben Vereen, as was mentioned earlier). Time will tell.

I was out of the country both times this played before. I'm glad it's coming back so that I can finally see it.

I would think the format would lend itself well to stunt casting. Even for runs of a week or two. I'm sure there are several popular musicians who would love to have a hand at these songs. It could be like when American Idiot had a different St. Jimmy every other week.
