It looks bad if you don't look into the actual numbers, but most shows still did pretty decently! Spiderman made 1 million less than last week but is still bringing in 90.5% gross potential. Wicked sustained over 2 million and Annie has more than 100% gross potential.
There weren't as many 7 performance weeks as you would think. A much larger majority of shows did the standard 8 performances (with The Heiress clocking in 9 shows last week).
Yes, there was a lot of red, but that is to be expected and many shows were still pulling in some inflated holiday numbers. There were a good number of school systems that had all of last week off, so there was still a good amount of tourist traffic in the city. The real January "slaughter" will be starting with this week's performances.
Did you know that every day Mexican gays cross our borders and unplug our brain-dead ladies?
The numbers to really look at are the gross % potential & capacity %. Most shows did very well. Numbers will start to drop starting this week(plus 4 shows closed on Sunday).
A Chorus Line played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013.
Awesome week for "Chicago"! from RC in Austin, Texas
Visiting New York City for the seventh time from June 7-10, 2013. Shows I'll be seeing: Friday, June 7th: "Chicago", Saturday, June 8th @ 2pm: "The Nance", "Pippin": 8pm and Sunday, June 9th: "Vanya, Sonia, Masha and Spike": 2pm.
I actually think that Nice Work is going to start to decline in attendance very soon unless Matthew goes back on the promo circuit. He has an upcoming spot on SMASH but has not done much promoting in recent months. They only did a bit over 50% gross potential, so after Broadway week, they may have some attendance issues. McGrath out for two months and many ensemble members have already jumped to other shows.
I smiled at Spiderman's numbers. They declined over $1M from the previous week and still had a great week.
"are you two going to renew your vows"? "Why, did they expire??"
