Is there a complete soundtrack to Les Miserables?

I bought the highlights version and was not impressed due to the number of missing songs...I can't imagine why "Do You The People Sing" and "A Little Fall of Rain" wouldn't be on there unless there was going to a complete edition...however, I can't seem to find one on amazon or anywhere else.
I was also looking forward to the end credits with that symphonic rendition of the score.

Anyone know if this will be released at a later date?

Anything is possible, but the early word was that there were no plans.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Part of the problem is that so many people say they will just buy the DVD when it comes out and bootleg a complete soundtrack recording from it. Why should a film company go to expense of preparing and releasing a 2-CD set when so few would buy it?

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

Maybe for those of us who have no idea how to do that :)

True, but record labels are not in business to put our CD's as a good-will gesture. Each product has to be able to pay for itself. How many copies would you likely buy?

No doubt if the strong sales continue for the highlights disc, it might provide incentive to release a "complete" soundtrack CD, but I understand Mackintosh is happily raking in cash from increased sales of the OLC and CSR recordings (both of which have long ago paid off their production costs) and likely doesn't want to hurt sales of those sets.

I am enjoying the Highlights, so as long as I have that and all the other recordings, I'll be fine without a "complete soundtrack"

I am looking forward to the book they will publish in April. perhaps they may release the DVD by then as well.

I was wondering the same thing.

A Little Fall Of Rain and Do You Hear The People Sing are 2 of my favorite songs in the movie and it annoys me so much that they are not on the album. It also makes so little sense to not have a song like Do You Hear The People Sing when it's so important in the movie.

At least, there's a little part of it at the end of the epilogue, but it's not enough for me...

I could see them releasing it as a Digital only version. I'm sure the other songs are recorded, just need to be released. I think the highlights CD was intended to be as spoiler free as possible while getting in the key songs.

I'm curious about the conspiracy-theory idea that the soundtrack is INTENTIONALLY incomplete in frustrating ways so as to boost sales of "legit" Les Miserables cast recordings.

If so, is it working?

Sounds to me that this soundtrack was a rush to get out and a 2-disk anything is a tough sell. I'm sure you can expect at the very least a complete soundtrack in the next few months. This needed to be out for Oscar season.

As you may have heard a MILLION times already, the way this film was made and locked was very unusual. I'm sure they were tweaking and sweetening audio on the film itself up until the very last minute. What they have given us is pretty damn cool, its neat to hear the real sounds and "room tone" from the film.

Any "conspiracy" theories are just that, no company is going to sit around when there is "money" to be made. They're making money on this highlights CD and if there is an audience for a full cd you'll see it.

God I hope not--watching most of them sing was bad enough--without the visuals to distract you--not good.

The highlights album is selling great (if it's not #1 this week it'll be darn close) so I'm sure they'll release a deluxe version, there's money to be made. They'll wait to announce it until everyone's already bought the highlights, though!

I just don't understand why anyone would want this soundtrack when there are so many cast recordings that are great and the vocals in the movie just plain sucked, as did the orchestrations.

It's also quite unfortunate that Seyfried's solo opening to "In My Life" is left out. Did we really need all that battle music?
