LOL. I don't think it's cool to trash her, I've just never truly enjoyed her in anything. Not my taste. I still don't think she'll be terrible, I just would've preferred someone else.
Count me in the few who are content with Ryan Murphy. I am no fan of glee, but I love American Horror Story, and enjoyed what little I saw of Nip/Tuck. He has had some misses, but I think he can handle it.
I think that Ryan Murphy does better with SHORT things. It's why people like American Horror Story, it's a new show every year. It's why people like the first season of Glee, because he hadn't get around to ****ing with it for his own amusement.
I don't hate American Horror Story or even Glee, but I think he's got a nice team of writers keeping him afloat. It seems that the episodes Murphy does most of the writing/directing on are suddenly way worse than the rest of the series, IMO.
I haven't seen Running with Scissors but Eat Pray Love was a train wreck.
If you haven't seen RUNNING WITH SCISSORS, keep it that way, it's not even worth watching in a "so bad it's good" kinda way, it's one of the most pointless, uninspired, stale movies I have ever seen. The cast could do wonders with the material, the director will ruin it.
I love this play more than I can say, too much to be okay with this. Which sounds backwards, I should be glad it's getting made, but no. I hope everything about how I imagine this ending up is wrong, and that it somehow turns out well. It has a Kramer-written screenplay and the possibility of a great Ned going for it, if Murphy doesn't f*ck those up.
I'm trying to remember how much I love the HBO Angels in America film, but that was in much more capable hands, and ultimately the distribution can't compensate for that.
I have a feeling Murphy may surprise people. It's not his original creation (nor a series requiring long-term consistency) and he seems very passionate about the project. Roberts isn't ideal casting, but Ruffalo should be great and a strong supporting cast should help.
