Les Miserables lines at Movies?

Hi everyone, I know there are countless Les Miserables movie discussions right now, but I haven't seen one that addresses this issue.

So I am planning to see Les Miserables on this Sunday at around noon and I was just curious as to how it's been doing in the theaters? Has it come to the point when anyone has trouble getting tickets? Do I have to get there really early to ensure I can get tickets? I usually go to the movies at the last minute to buy tickets, since I never really watch movies on the opening day or weekend. This is Les Miserables' first weekend in theaters, and I just wanted to find out if lines are long in theaters and if this movie has generally been playing to packed theaters. Thanks everyone!

Nah. Haven't seen anything bad. However, my local theater, despite being in the center of the city, never sells out for anything, so my experience is skewed.

In my area, Christmas day was a sell out and that's all. You'll probably be fine.

I would say it would depend on how picky you are about where you sit in combination with the area in which you live. The film is raking in gads of money, which mean selling lots of seats lots of the time. I'm sure some communities walking in the last minute is fine -- and others you will be stuck in the front few rows.

I know when I saw this the day after Xmas, a 1 pm show, there were many people that couldn't sit together because of the time they got there. This is the first film in ages where I had no empty seats next to us -- and we see a lot of films their first week out.

I saw it yesterday at 11:40 am. I can't speak from personal experience because i bought my tickets online the night before. The theater was nearly filled when i got there 20 minutes before show time. When the movie started, there were maybe 3 empty seats in the whole theater.

I don't know where you are, but remember that if you are in an area that just got snow, it could be a little busier. If you got a ton of snow it will not be as busy as people will still be digging out

If you are in NYC it shold not be totally crazy as there are enough screens of the movie that it is doing great business but not filling them all

That's not true at all. It's been filling up all its screenings in Manhattan. while each screening might not be completely sold out, it isn't going to empty.

The screening I attended on Saturday afternoon at the AMC on 42nd Street was virtually empty, but it also featured that new audio system thing that they charged an extra $3.00 for, and that might have kept people away from that screening at least.

Thanks to all for sharing your experiences! I was able to get tickets today (I got to the movies about half an hour before just in case). It was definitely one of the most filled up theater I have been in, but again, I rarely watch movies when they first open so maybe this is normal. Anyway, I was very happy to get my tickets and pretty good seats as well - lots of people came in closer to showtime. The movie was great!
