So a theatre in my area is holding auditions for Les Miserables and I am looking for some great song selections to consider for my audition. I am a female in my late 20's, soprano but with a strong mid range belt. Any ideas??? Would LOVE some input! Maybe some songs that are not quite as well known. Thanks y'all!
I think I'm aiming for either Fantine or Eponine (though I might be a bit on the older side for Eponine depending how they cast) but honestly I would be excited to have even an ensemble role.
Why Can't I Speak? from Zorba (here's the revival version, you may need to cut and paste but including the Leader's big finish "Nikko, I want you..." ; the original version goes from the widow to the leader without Nikko's countermelody I believe and might be more readymade for an audition)
I've always loved this song, don't think it's often used for auditioning, and it's torchy quality and "and who can say where it may end?" finale are poignantly evocative of both Fantine and Eponine's tragic loves.
