Me too, actually. I wonder if he takes requests for the encore, like Patti did.

He's probably doing tunes from his recent album "Dee Does Broadway." Really great album, little bit of Sondheim, little bit of Kander & Ebb, Andrew Lloyd Webber. Something fro everyone.

How does he sound?

Meaning...what kind of sound is he producing? A rocker sound mixed with a Broadway sensibility? Or full on Broadway?

You can listen to snippets of it on the iTunes store. If you like rock guitars with versions of "Tonight", "Cabaret", and "Sweeny Todd", and others then you might like it. Most of it is rocked out. Not quite my cup of tea, but his live performance might be different.

The album is crazy and wonderful in a really odd way. I am not a fan of crazy rock music but I love the album, I really want to see a version of Sweeney using arrangements similar to his version of the ballad.

You can listen to samples here and there are full songs on YouTube.

More rocker than anything else. He did a little show for I(heart)Radio several months ago that I went to. He does a version of The Ballad of Sweeney Todd that is really great. The rock sensibility really works with the lyrics of the song. The album is available on iTunes and Amazon so you can listen to the previews, or if you use Spotify you can give the album a listen.

The track list from the album is

Cabaret
Ballad of Sweeney Todd
Big SPender (featuring Cyndi Lauper)
Mack the Knife
Whatever Lola Wants (featuring Bebe Neuwirth)
Music of the Night (featuring Mark Wood)
The Joint is Jumpin (Featuring Jesse Snider)
Luck Be a Lady Tonight (Featuring Clay Aiken)
I Get a Kick out of You
There is Nothing like a Dame (Ft. Will Swenson, Nick Adams and Tony Sheldon)
Razzle Dazzle
Tonight/Somewhere (Featuring Patti LuPone)

It's def a rock sound, for the most part. He also duets with some B'way favs: Nick Adams, Tony Sheldon, Will Swenson, Bebe Neuwirth, and last, but certainly not least, Patti LuPone herself.

I always thought Sweeny Todd could've been done in a metal style. The theme certainly lends itself to that. If done well, with operatic overtones it could be kinda cool.

WHen I first heard his version "Ballad of Sweeney Todd" I had the same though. I would love to see someone do some rock orchestrations for the whole thing. At the very least it would make an interesting concept album.

I'm not quite sure I want to own the album, but that Sweeney Todd was pretty brilliant.

"Landlord's Daughter" by The Decemberists is eerily close to being a prog-rock version of "The Ballad of Sweeney Todd, complete with acoustic guitar and hammond organ verses, sudden metal breaks at the chorus and a bridge that practically begs you to sing "Inconspicuous, Sweeney was..."

"Landlord's Daughter" starts at 6:10.

I thought that Tonight/Somewhere made a perfect power ballad.

For me, about half the songs work really well and half are not that successful for various reasons.

Sweeney, Tonight/Somewhere and Lola are all great. Lola becomes this really sinister piece. Bebe is scary.
