Isn't Lindsay Mendez attached to FLY? That's scheduled to run July/August in Dallas, if she continues on with the show (she did the workshop last week), then she would be unavailable.

I'm not saying I know for sure, I'm just pointing out that she is attached to FLY and as far as I know, many members of the workshop cast will be doing the production in Dallas. I do not know if she is one of them.
Lindsay Mendez is indeed joining WICKED after Willemijn Verkaik finishes her run in May.
As others have speculated, Mendez's busy concert schedule and a couple other projects she's committed to made it impossible for her to go into the show any sooner. While she did just do the workshop of FLY, it's my understanding that the team was already aware she was unavailable for the full production (they'll have to cast a lot more local actors in Dallas anyway.)
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
What I was told came from a reliable source as of a few days ago.
