My niece and her friend are visiting me right after Christmas, and the friend is a theater major. What would be some shows for them to see? My niece lives 400 miles away and has come into the city periodically over the years, but this is the first time she will be wandering around Manhattan by herself. Discounted shows would be great! Nothing too mainstream like the Radio City show or Elf.
I was thinking Peter and the Starcatcher, even though I didn't like it myself. I figure maybe I missed something. Also, I love Falling at the Minetta Lane theater. I think it's a good balance between being serious without being too depressing, and it features amazing performances by young people. (All the cast is great though.) Because the friend is a theater major, it would be nice to have them see a variety of things. Any advice would be much appreciated!
Give her directions to Times Square and TKTS and let her choose.
Et al, lah ... Poof!
Cheyenne Jackson ordered me a drink at Standing Ovations 2 waayyyyyy before Girly hung out with him in the dressing room and he tickled D2.
If she's a theatre major, there's a good chance she already has some idea of what she wants to see. I've never known a theatre major who didn't know what was playing on Broadway (to some extent), no matter how far away from New York they might be.
