Shia LaBeouf & Alec Baldwin to Lead ORPHANS on Broadway

This is exciting. They are both wonderful. I was kind of hoping Andrew Garfield would make an unexpected, sooner rather than later, return in the part, but Shia's casting seems like it will be good.

Two, two-fisted hot heads, should be fun!

Not excited about Shia's casting. He just turns me off. But now it makes sense to me that I saw him at "Once" a few nights ago, since some of those producers are also producing Orphans.

Love the play, not inspired by LaDouche, however.

Oh good gracious I love Alec Baldwin. I would love to see him in this.

Couldn't care less about Shia.

Shia LaBeouf is one of the worse actors of his generations working in Hollywood today, awful awful choice, might as well be Taylor Lautner (who at least is pretty to look at).
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"

A tedious play, not worth reviving, at least it won't go over the heads of anyone dumb enough to buy tickets on the strength of Shia LeBeouf's appearance in it. Baldwin might be worth a look, though.

Seriously, though, who is Shia LeBeouf sleeping with to have the career he's been having?

Roscoe, I almost wrote on my previous post that he must give amazing head to keep getting these roles. Unbelievable.

Doesn't he seem a little...unhinged?

I think it could make for some entertaining backstage stories!

I've lost interest in seeing this now.

I don't know this play. Is there a role for Jan Maxwell in it?

Another OK play that doesn't need a major revival. For me, the money would be better spent on developing a new play for these guys.

it seems odd to me that the release devotes two fat grafs to LeBeouf's career, but not one biographical word for Baldwin. are they thinking LeBeouf is going to be the main draw here? over Baldwin?

Baldwin was previously announced. LeBeouf is the point of this press release.

Shia Laebouf did some good work in his earlier stuff after that disney show. Holes, Greatest Game ever played, Bobby etc... but Transformers ruined all of that for him. I can def. see him getting "he's trying his absolute best" type reviews but nothing that noteworthy. Who knows, maybe he'll surprise me. He had a lot of potential before he made everyone realize he was a complete jackass.

Echoing the comments about Shia's acting. Also to add that he is just as terrible as a human being. Meh.

Alec Baldwin is going the way of Tony Randall -- doing Broadway shows that nobody wants to see him in. Unless this is a Roundabout show, with a subscriber base, I don't think anyone is that interested in seeing Orphans. What's next for Baldwin? "Doubles"?

I'm surprised that Shia isn't Phillip. I can't see him as Treat at all.

I am interested as I've never seen the play and adore Alec Baldwin on 30 Rock. This has me with or without Shia LeBeouf. I'm ready to give Shia a chance-maybe he'll be really good.

It'd be more interesting if Shia was doing this with Harrison Ford.

Imagine all of the swearing backstage! If they donate a dollar for every cuss, some charity is gonna have their yearly needs met.

Who really needs this production?

In addition to his terrible acting, Shia can't enunciate, so this could be very, very bad.
Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!

Ugh. I can't stand LaBeouf.
Some people can get a thrill, knitting sweaters and sitting still. That's okay for some people, who don't know they're alive!
