Dead might be the operative word...boring too, and KH is directed to sit with her back to the audience during most of the first act, she doesn't have the chops to be heard like that even in the Music Box theater. Left at intermission, lost interest. Maybe it will run, who knows.

It's not a great play by any stretch of the imagination, but Holmes has some terrific Act Two moments, as does Judy Greer. While the first act went around in circles, the second act built just enough momentum to satisfy. Shallow, but harmless.

First of all, the play is called Dead Accounts, not Dead Accountants (though that could be a funny play all on its own). Secondly, I actually had no problem hearing Katie from the back of the mezz. I DID have a problem hearing Judy Greer, who sounded like she was whispering.

I saw Dead Accounts (I mean if you cant get the name right, you probably went into it not in the best frame of mind)a couple of weeks back and aside from the way it ended which i thought was kind of abrupt, i really did enjoy it. The audience didnt seem to be bored, they were laughing and clapping throughout. Im not sure what you mean that she sat with her back to the audience for most of the first act, as she seemed to be going back and forth from the table (facing us) and the kitchen for most of the first act. Plus I heard her just fine throughout. Sorry you left early, the second act was great!

Sorry, it was an attempt at a joke to call it Dead Accountants, but my friend and I both couldn't hardly hear them in the orchestra mid on the side....and from our point of view her back was to us the majority of the time. I still, after reflection, found it boring enough not to compel me to stay. Wish them well and maybe it plays better from the mezz. area, but not enough to see it again and my ticket was a free one. Wish them well though.

This play would have been a lot better if Rebeck had written a third act in which there was an actual ending.

Well, from the reviews coming in, I suppose my suggested title change may be appropriate as far as the finance department..lol..if only Jack had staged it differently and sent it back for a rewrite asking for an imaginative ending. Good thing Ms. Holmes has a nice settlement
