Silence is in a custom built theater in the Time Scare complex...the only way it will close is if Time Scare has something to replace it. The show would become dinner theater before it closes.
Based on the fact that free tickets are being given away EVERY DAY for the last 3 weeks-- yeah--- it's closing. And if making an educated guess based on show business, insider marketing practices, running a theater and production costs is considered trolling- then go home. I've been in this industry way too long to have the likes of you make a light joke of this at the expense of the post. The OP was purely coming out of sadness for a show that needs to be seen and is thoroughly enjoyable with clever writing and a fun cast and talent up the wazoo. Not thrilled these people will be losing their jobs. And it's about sharing the news with people who haven't seen it-(the point of this board in the first place) so the non-jaded likes of you can go see a fun evening of theater. If you don't like it- go see Mary Poppins or continue to ask tired questions about Evita and Les Mis and have a nice day.
Some people on these boards have a bizarre phobia that suggest they feel merely discussing a show's closing like an adult (rather than a weeping 12-year-old) is akin to raping and eating a baby in the middle of Times Square while urinating on a Bible.
The show will make it into the New Year, barely and then buh-bye. And let's face it, the only really good thing about it was Jenn Harris. Very obvious, second rate satire...
The show itself is great but the theater was terrible. Very uncomfortable, banks of seats separated by a pole on either side, I had seats Row J and felt so far back and barely any rake.
Really, really enjoyed this show. Got to see it twice and laughed my butt off both times. It's sad to see it close; this was one of those off-Broadway productions that deserved to run forever. While it's not as good as THE BOOK OF MORMON, I'd venture to say I laughed just as hard at SILENCE as I did at MORMON.
