I would hope that with new "stars" coming they are "stars" to the public and not just to the Broadway community.

Carolee Carmello is the obvious choice.
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain. -Kad

Actually, there's a video of Carolee singing "Buenos Aires" that makes me wish she had played the role about 10-15 years ago.
A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.

Forget Enrique, let's get GABRIEL Iglesias! Now THAT is a show I would pay to see.
Theatre is my life. No one can take that away from me.

I know they talked to her and she seemed interested.

They did say "New Stars". So most likely its not going to be anyone local and or an understudy (although it would be nice).

My prediction, Broadway star for Evita, big names for the others.

Mandy Gonzalez would be AMAZING! She would blow the roof off the theater.

Gonzalez, Olivo, and Ramirez are all pretty exciting prospects to me. But (I haven't watched it in a few years) isn't Ramirez still on GREY'S?

I think Olivo would be excellent...sure, she's not an amazing dancer, but I'd rather have a very good dancer who can sing extraordinarily than an extraordinary dancer who sings mediocrely. In other words, she'd be a big step up from Elena (who I actually didn't mind in the role as much as others).

One of the reasons I liked Roger so much is that she was so different from LuPone vocally. I would really hate to see someone who isn't as wildly different from LuPone and have them come across as a pale imitation. (I'm not saying that would be the case with anyone suggested so far, but it's definitely a concern I'd have.)

I'd love to see Karen Olivo play the role so badly though they'd be lucky to get Mandy Gonzalez too. Enrique Iglesias would be such a joke as Che, but I guess to a lot of people so was Ricky Martin.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"

I really hope they direct whoever replaces Martin to actually...oh, I don't know...act like a REVOLUTIONARY and not a cheery, wide-eyed chorus boy.

Mandy Gonzalez does one hell of a "Rainbow High," and her incredible vocal stamina is legendary.

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

I can't help but laugh. I suppose they are joking because the posts who are suggesting that 63-year old Patti LuPone return to play Eva (who ages from about 16 to 32 in the show) are out of their minds. Should Mandy Patinkin and Bob Gunton also return to the show?

Anna Kendrick as Eva.
Sacha Baron Cohen as Che.
Javier Bardem as Peron.
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Yes they should. Again, if a 60-year old Ted Neeley can play a 33-year old Jesus, a 63-year old Patti can play a 32-year old Eva. It's called makeup.

:-P <-- And that is a tongue-in-cheek smiley. It indicates sarcasm.

surprised Martin didn't extend, if just for 3 more months. he's said in interviews how much fun he's having.
A Chorus Line played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013.

I've heard Shoshana Bean sing "Don't Cry For Me, Argentina" and it's absolutely gorgeous. Controlled, which I know is something people would prefer from her. It won't happen I'm sure, but she could sure belt it!

I don't know how solid proof this is, but Mandy Gonzalez was in a studio next to a reading I was doing a few months ago, and you could clearly hear her singing "Buenos Aires".

Shoshana Bean's voice is so damaged at this point I sincerely doubt she could manage Evita 6 times a week...I heard her sing with JRB at 54 Below not too long ago and her upper register sounded really rough.
