Does anyone know when [or if] they will be making a recording for the new revival? As I won't be making it to NYC anytime soon [poor graduate student here,] I am dying to listen to the cast.
I know its only been a month since the show has opened, and I am not sure how many months into a theater run the show will record a cast album, but any information would help.
There's already an Australian cast recording with Anthony Warlow and a complete 2 disc recording of the 30th Anniversary production.
Personally, I don't think we need another Annie recording, BUT I would bet money that they will record it. As far as I know, nothing has been announced though.
If they plan to license the new arrangements (which I hope but I doubt), they will certainly record it. But they may record it anyways. I believe the 30th Anniversary recording has Sally Struthers and John Schunck, right?
^Sally Struthers only sings on one of the bonus tracks. The cast is mostly the original cast of the 30th anniversary tour. Alene Robertson plays Miss Hannigan.
The 30th Anniversary Cast Recording is quite good....it's more complete than the original. It is not anywhere near what the poster above described. I guess a poor choice of words......
^I like it because it has "Why Should I Change a Thing." I went ahead and put it in the proper order on my ipod because the song was in the tour when I saw it and I really liked it.
I never thought I'd say this as I am a believe in preserving all shows but please don't record this abysmal revival. If you do.. I for one will not be buying it. And don't get it for me as a gift. I will stick with Louden, McArdle and Shelton.
