Hello everyone! I'm planning a day trip to the city to see "Giant" at the Public and I've noticed that they sell rush seats and obstructed view seats for $20. I was just wondering how bad the view is for the partial view seats and how hard it is to get rush seats. Also, where are the rush seats located? Thank you!

My friends rushed the show this Sunday evening and received tickets in the center of row K. The seats are just whatever is available, with close seats being priority.

Are the obstructed view seats only available at the box office? I looked on the website and I didn't see an option to buy them.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

There's obstructed view? I honestly can't imagine which seats have an obstructed view in that theatre...

Neither can I. Sightlines are very good for this show, and there is very little in the way of large scenery.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is this rush the kind where you have to line up before 5, or would one be safe getting a ticket say, an hr before? Thinking of going Wednesday. Thanks!

You can get the obstructed view tickets online. When you click through after choosing a date, you get the option to choose your price point -- $95 for full price and $20 for obstructed. I actually almost bought one for this weekend, but like others in this thread, I couldn't imagine what could be the cause for obstruction in the Newman, so I called the box office. The person I spoke to said she hadn't sat in the seats herself, but had been told that they aren't partial view, they're right up against the sound booth and "very obstructed." So I decided to wait and take my chances with rush.

I arrived at about 6:30 on Saturday evening, and was told there were no rush tickets, and they had all gone right at 6, but I could get on a full-price waiting list. I was just visiting for a few days and it was now or never, so I decided I'd wait it out and see. The box office was about to take my name (I'd have been first on the list) when a single ticket happened to materialize, and they very kindly sold it to me for rush price. It was in the second row from the back, but the ushers moved a decently sized group of people down into the first 10 or so rows to fill in holes down there.

Thanks! Guess I'll show up slightly before 5 tomorrow with a back-up plan just in case.

Has anyone tried rush for a Saturday matinee? If so what time did you get in line?

I've tried to rush twice on Wednesday nights, but both times the show was sold out so they didn't have any rush tickets at all. I can't imagine Saturday matinee would be much better. If you're a student, you're probably better off doing their student advance thing.

I agree that if you can get them in advance, you'd be best off doing that, but I'd think a weekend matinee might be a little easier than an evening. Those performances are often packed with (ancient) subscribers, and there's a good chance someone's going to cancel.

What time would you suggest getting in line to rush the 7pm Saturday performance?
