A theatre that I hold very near and dear to my heart is in trouble and needs help. The Flat Rock Playhouse, the State Theatre of North Carolina, is in danger of closing unless they can raise $250,000 by the end of December. A Facebook group was created less than 48 hours ago, and almost 10,000 actors, technicians, musicians, and others who have a connection with the Playhouse have already joined in order to find a way to raise all of the money needed. Fundraising efforts are underway all over the country. A concert in New York is currently being planned as we speak. The amount of support for the theatre has truly been overwhelming for everybody involved.
I spent the summer of 2011 at the Playhouse as an apprentice. To say it was the greatest summer of my life would be an understatement. It truly changed my life and molded me into a better performer and a better person. It hurts my heart to see the theatre in such a state of need, but it makes me happy that so many people care about this magical place as much as I do. If you feel so inclined, please make a donation to the Playhouse here:
PLEASE consider donating whatever you can! No amount is too small! Here's an article talking about the support the Playhouse has gotten in such a short time. We can do this!!!
